UNWTO announced the list of Best Tourism Villages 2021 (The best examples of villages embracing tourism to provide opportunity and drive sustainable development) on December 2nd 2021. 44 villages from 32 countries are listed and 2 villages in Japan (Miyama, Kyoto & Niseko, Hokkaido) are among them! |

Miyama, a small town located about 30km away (about 80mins driving distance) from Kyoto city, is a rural mountain area where you can find around 200 Japanese traditional thatched roof farmhouses (Kayabuki farmhouses). |

Rural life in this old style village, makes you feel like travel back in time and back to the life which human and nature co-existing harmoniously.
If you are interested in experiencing the everyday life of this small village, you can even rent an entire Kayabuki farmhouse here as your accommodation during your trip! Several farmhouses are available for tourists to experience farm stay as well.
