With its 3,000-kilometer coastline along the Pacific Ocean and a mix of warm and cold ocean currents, Japan's underwater environment offers a diverse range of experiences for everyone.

So, whether you're an on-ground tourist or simply looking for a different kind of adventure, consider adding Japan's underwater world to your next travel itinerary.

Introduction to

The Underwater World of Japan 🦈

Japan's waters are a confluence of warm and cold ocean currents. The Oyashio Current brings in the cold, nutrient-rich waters and marine life of the north, while the Kuroshio Current brings warm, crystalline waters and aquatic organisms from the south. This makes it possible for us to observe or experience both warm and cold underwater environment in the same waters.
Thanks to the country's unique underwater terrain and "coastal upwelling current," even shallow waters offer glimpses of deep-sea fish.

Moreover, Japan's four distinct seasons creates more varieties of the underwater ecosystems for us to experience throughout the year.
To add up, Japan's excellent transportation system and the close proximity between the coast-line and on ground tourist spots make it possible for usual and ocean sports tourist to enjoy their trip together while engaging in activities tailored to their individual interests.
